Buntzen, Carl (1835 - 1901)

Full name: Carl Michael Detlev Buntzen.

Born on Feb. 2nd 1835 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

As a son of the well-known painter Heinrich Buntzen, he was prone to become a journeyman painter, but from 1850-51 and again from 1852 he was admitted to and studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.

He debuted at the esteemed Charlottenborg Spring Exhibitions in 1875 at also exhibited there in 1877.

Buntzen is known as a skilled seascape painter and ship portrayer, his works done in a naturalistic and vivid manner and he found his motifs on The Sound and in the port of Elsinore.
